OUTCOME
Build a short role-play that tests meaning and keeps a text fallback.

YOU NEED
A chat assistant; voice input is optional. Pick phrases checked by a reliable language resource or fluent speaker.

1. Choose one situation
Write a scenario with a clear objective: order water, ask a price or check into a hotel. Limit the lesson to three useful phrases.

2. Ground the phrase list
Provide verified phrases, translations and usage notes. Ask the model to use that list rather than inventing new teaching material every turn.

3. Role-play one turn at a time
Ask the assistant to play the other person. Respond in text or voice. Request one correction and a retry, with a translation available when you need it.

4. Test transfer
Change one detail such as quantity or destination. Explain the meaning in your own words. Save phrases that still need practice, not merely the ones the model praised.

PROMPT
Act as my practice partner for [situation] at beginner level. Use only these verified phrases: [list]. Give one short turn at a time. Let me reply in text if voice is unavailable. Correct one meaningful error, explain it simply, and let me retry. Do not score pronunciation from text alone.

EXAMPLE / EXPERIMENT
Repeating a memorized order is the first checkpoint. Asking for two drinks instead of one tests whether you understood the phrase rather than copied its shape.

IF IT FAILS
If corrections contradict each other, return to the verified phrase list. Speech transcription accuracy and pronunciation quality are different; do not treat a transcript as a full pronunciation assessment.
